I grew up in Yakima, WA, where nature is unavoidable. My childhood was built on hikes in the Cowiche river canyon during green weeks of spring, panoramic views of Mount Rainier, and fresh summer peaches from the local orchard. I learned to treat the natural world with humble respect.

Natural spaces are precious, and they endure the consequences of human action. Take a moment to be quiet in an outdoor space. How did this place come to be the way it is? How is it changing now?

Is that change for the better?

Even so, this album is not so much a call to action as it is a call to love. I love, without reservation, the Big Country: the open spaces of the American West. I deeply hope that you too find love in Conservation.
